According Fox 21 News, a 33 year old motorcyclist was killed last month when he attempted to pass between two trucks on Colorado Interstate 25. While the accident remains under investigation, Colorado State Troopers don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
Riding a motorcycle, particularly on a multi-lane roadway with trucks and tractor trailers, is dangerous no matter how experienced the rider is. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that 4,668 fatalities resulted from motorcycle accidents in 2013. NHTSA statistics for the same year show that motorcycle riders are 26 times more likely to die in crashes than the riders of passenger cars and other motor vehicles.
